MyBooBoo’s Hoodies:
A Project of Love
MyBooBoo's Hoodies was born from love— the love I share with my beloved two-year-old Maltese, BooBoo, and the deep commitment I have to my life's work: supporting formerly incarcerated, wrongfully convicted, and system-impacted individuals on their journey to economic independence.
BooBoo came into my life at a time when my nonprofit, Witness to Mass Incarceration, was struggling to secure the funding we needed to sustain our work. We’ve dedicated ourselves to building pathways for economic mobility, helping FIP (formerly incarcerated persons) entrepreneurs create businesses, gain stability, and break cycles of recidivism.
Through initiatives like our Suitcase Sunday events and the first-ever online directory of FIP-owned businesses, we’ve seen lives change—but to expand this work, we need more support, more resources, and more hands to help.
Then, one day, I took a picture of BooBoo wearing a pink hoodie.
That moment sparked an idea: what if a hoodie could do more than just keep someone warm? What if it could carry a message of love, justice, and solidarity?
From that simple, heartwarming image, MyBooBoo’s Hoodies was born—both as a way to generate financial support and as a statement of purpose.
